Friday - workday

Work week is over. Not to bad. Looking forward to some down time; time with the boys, and time with my guitar. Will catch up on some sleep, rest, recharge my batteries.

K is still in the hospital; will probably be there for the next week or so, maybe even longer. The latest thinking is that all of what's been going on is from an inbalance of her meds. They'll observe her closely while making adjustments. She's definitely doing better, though. It looks like she won't be able to join us in Vermont next month; she'll either remain in the hospital or stay home with a friend; to be closee to her doctors. Oh well.

Wednesday - workday

Mildly busy at work. Riding out this week and next week, before vacation.

K is back in the hospital. Again very low sodium levels, dizzy, confused, slurred, shakey. This time her Primary Care doc is now taking over, coordinating all the specialists. Hopefully we'll have ssome real answers this time, and a treatment plan. The best I'm hoping for is that she'll be able to ccome with the family on vacation.

Life is spinning very fast, lately. Keeping focus, balance, center, presence; with quality. Maybe.

Friday - workday

Writing this post from a shoot. In Hoboken for a studio shoot for Grolsch beer. Slow going, and not very exciting, but it's work. May have to come back tomorrow.

Yesterday I worked a half day and then went to the Central Park Summerstage for an amazing concert; Grace Potter, Galactic and Umphrey's Magee. Umphrey's were incredible. The program decribed their music as jams approached from progressive rock; via King Crimson and Genesis. Killer players all around., especially the lead guitarist and drummer. I've heard live recordings of them doing the best cover of KC's "Red" I've ever heard. This show was exaactly what I needed; I don't remember smiling so much in a long long time. And the show began at 5:30 as was over at 10, so I was home by 12:30. Not bad for a weeknight.

Thursday - workday

Relatively quiet week at work. Began work on the next pro bono job. Long deadline, so no pressure.

Lots of tension at home. More tests for K. Dan is pushing bounderies. I'm exhausted, emotionally.

Sunday evening went to a great meeting, then out with MB for drinks. Good talk, good friend. He's made some great strides with the audio from the TGP HVFG show from November. I look forward to hearing more. Hopefully soon we'll sit down together with guitars. Maybe something new will begin in September.

Heat wave is over, but the weather is still volitile. Luckily, we did not lose power.

Tonight is Umphrey's Magee in Central Park. Unusual for me, but should be fun.

Saturday

After a better night's sleep I wake at 8:00. Coffee, bagel, make French Toast for Miles. Then a focused sitting; I visualize the day.

Start the laundry. Then outside to trim the hedges. I had hoped that Dan would get to this during the week, but distractions prevented this. The week ahead looks like weather will make this difficult, so I do it myself. Miles assists in cleanup.

Then, a long soak in the jacuzzi. Dan finally wakes up and the boys and I go out for Chinese food and food shopping. After putting away the groceries, I drive Dan to the Verizon store for a new phone (again!) and to pick up a friend who will sleep over. I drop the boys at the pool hall then back home I do some internet banking and play guitar for an hour. YGP repertoire speaks to me today; I look forward to hear what MB has managed to make of our recordings. We have tentative plans for tomorrow.

Pick up the boys, write this post. Now to make some noise with my bass. A good day.

Friday - workday

Slow work week ends. Upgraded the main software on my computer. Not without glitches, and always they change something that wasn't broken and break something that worked fine. It'll take a little while to get used to the new features.

More drama with K this week. On Wednesday she had a Lumbar Puncture at the neurologist's office. Came home with an awful headache. Then the neurologist calls and wants her to go to the ER immediately. She had dangerously low sodium levels in the most recent blood test. He said she should be prepared to stay a week. But tests later that evening showed her levels returning and they discharged her the next day. Now we wait for at least 2 weeks for the results of the LP and the MRI and the EEG. Hopefully, we'll get a diagnosis, finally. I need some closure and answers.

It's very hot today, and will get hotter over the weekend, and the next few days. I feel very lethargic and tired; not sleeping well. It's taking me a long time to fall asleep.

Had my guitar in my hands almost every night this week. I intend to have some quality time with it this weekend. Maybe even play with MB. Did I mention I glad it's the weekend?

Monday - workday

After a day of medical tests on Friday, K is home and resting. She seems to be feeling better; more coherant, but still very tired and has moments of blanks. Hopefully we'll hear from her Neurologist and begin to get some answers.

A relatively quiet weekend. Made a lot of phone calls about K, spoke to some doctors, spent some time with the boys. Dan came home from Boy Scout camp.

Quiet at work. A needed lull.

Did manage to sit and practice guitar this weekend, and this morning. Some of the recent musical ideas are coalesing into a new piece. It's taken some time, but I think I've got something good.

Thursday - workday

Long day of work yesterday. Have to convince our client that our methodolgy is the most effective, creatively and financially. A fine line.

Home late to dinner, time with Miles, Watched part 2 of "No Direction Home". Excellent.

Today finished our presentation. A convincing argument. Home on time.

K came home today, very sick. She'll probably go back into the hospital where she first was. Hard to believe she was released in this condition.

Tuesday - 4th of July

The end of a full weekend. had to drive Dan to Boy Scout camp on Sunday; we got our weeks mixed up and he missed the bus. Well, he did most of the driving there, then after we said goodbye, Miles and I drove to Albany and spent the night at a hotel. Miles had fun swimming in their pool. Monday we drove home, did some errands and had burgers on the grill in the backyard.

Today Miles and I took the train in to NYC, then the subway down to South Street. We walked around, then through Chinatown, looking for a restuarant that Kevin took us to after the Knitting Factory YGP show, but couldn't find it. Eventually we found ourselves in Little Italy. Had a good, cheap lunch. Then took the subway back to Grand Central and ran to catch our train. Home to wash and fold laundry, then we watched the fireworks on TV. I had my guitar in my hands for much of the evening.

Sunday I got a call from K. Seems she had another disacociative episode at the rehab and spent a night in a local hospital. After more CAT scans and another MRI they sent her back to the rehab. But now, after tonight's call, it seems they want her to be in the care of her Neurologist. So, they'll drive her home either tomorrow or Thursday, and she'll likely be back in the local hospital. This is just a report, I'll have to process all of this before I can understand the repurcussions.

Saturday

Wake at 7:00, after some confusing dreams, and realise it's Saturday. Go back to sleep until Miles wakes me up at 9:00 with the phone; it's K. She has limited access to the phone. She sounds good; settled.

So now I'm up. Start the laundry, clean the kitchen, make coffee. Then, begin sitting. Inturupted by the phone; annoying, but I'm able to get back to sit, come back to myself; the right thing.

After breakfast, the boys and I plan the day - a trip to the Bronx Zoo. A perfect day, weatherwise, and not too crowded.

Then, Dan wants White Castle for dinner. We stop and he eats 12 cheeseburgers. Miles is disgusted.

Home to fold laundry, then a nap.

Drop off Dan and a friend at a party; he'll sleep over at the friend's house tonight. Home to more laundry, then some guitar.

A good day. 3 more days off to follow.
